Justice and Peace Commission of the Hong Kong Catholic Diocese

All human beings are created in the image of God, they have the same nature and origin, and they enjoy the same divine calling and destiny.

The joys and hopes, the grieves and the anxieties of all human beings of this age, especially those who are poor or in any way afflicted, these are the joys and hopes, the grieves and anxieties of the followers of Christ.

“Action on behalf of justice and participation in the transformation of the world fully appear to us as a constitutive dimension of the preaching of the Gospel, or in other words, of the Church’s mission for the redemption of the human race and its liberation from every oppressive situation”(The 1971 Synod of Bishops).

2020-04-18 Arrest by the police is obviously political persecution

Justice and Peace Commission of HK Catholic Diocese believes that today's arrest by the police is obviously political persecution.

The Comission condemns and makes the following three demands:

1. The Government must respond to the five major demands made by the public during the anti-Extradition Law Amendment Bill campaign. It must stop all arrests until the establishment of an independent commission is set up and this commission reports.

2. Repeal the bad public security law, and restore Hong Kong people's freedom of procession and assembly.

3. Police must immediately return the mobile phones of all arrested persons in order to ensure their privacy.
